India has always had a rich heritage of world-class handlooms and handicrafts. When most of the fashion world is running after westernized fashion trends, there are a handful of designers who have preferred to take Indian originality and ethnicity to the global stage. Renowned fashion designer Prasantt Ghosh is one of them.

Prasantt is a well-known face of North-East India’s fashion industry for almost a decade now. Not only has he proven his worth as a world-class designer but as a fashion choreographer as well. This talented designer who started his career in the industry in 1994 has won many accolades both as designer and choreographer to his credit. He is the face of the fashion industry of North-East India.

He has been dedicatedly working to promote haute couture by uplifting the handlooms and handicrafts of north-east India. His hard work, passion, and talent is evident in skillfully crafted patterns and weaves using traditional handloom fabric. His designs are the best blend of ethnic beauty and modern look. He has been successful in showcasing the potential of ethnic designs and Indian threads to the global fashion-savvy audience for almost 2 decades now. He mesmerizes with his designs using Khadi, Muga Silk, Eri, Nooni paat, and other Northeastern handloom fabrics.

He has done shows both offshore in countries like Bhutan, Srilanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, and in major Indian cities as well. He is a regular designer in the Khadi and Village Industry Commission of North-east, Artfed, NEHDC, Brawfed. Apart from this, his designs are regularly seen on prestigious ramp shows and events like the National handloom and Exhibition fashion show (2004-2012), Dazzle Mrs. India Universe, Mrs. Global Universal, Mrs. India International, NEHDC handicrafts, and handlooms fashion show to name few.

Prasantt’s designs have been featured in leading Indian magazines like Femina, Women’s Era, and Society. He has designed clothes in many regional movies like Bukur Majot, Jawle, Suren Soorar Putek, Khel, and also for many television shows. He has also worked with the most famous faces and supermodels of the Indian fashion industry like Dipanita Sharma, Tupur Chatterjee, Candice Pinto, Indrani Dasgupta, Dipti Gujral, Rahul Dev, Upen Patel, Fleaur Xavier, Mughda Godse, Jas Arora, and the list is endless. Prasantt is the only designer from Assam to design for the prestigious National Games (2007) opening and closing ceremonies for 3000 children.
