North East International Fashion Week
The North East International Fashion Week (NEIFW) started in 2015, is a platform to support upcoming aspiring designers and models and discover new talents. It is a platform to grow up with the established names of the fashion Industry and upgrade oneself. It is a professionally managed show with top national/ international models being flown in from Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata every season and also from neighboring countries like Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Srilanka and Malaysia to present the creations of the local, national and international designers.
It has potential for fashion trade and gives budding youngsters’ Designers the opening they need to make an impression in the market. The event is an attempt to infuse North East’s unique heritage of indigenous crafts with Avant garde style and give it a global exposure. The entire show is managed under the banner of fashion designer & Choreographer Prasantt Ghosh’s ‘Kreative People’. If you are a budding designer, you would want to be here and not anywhere else because it gives the best mileage in a reasonable amount.
Worth mentioning here is a fact that NEIFW is not just another Fashion Event but a Fashion Event with a social cause. The social theme of the event previously was for the Old-Age home; Eye and body organ donations, Plant trees and protect environment, give shelter and protect the animals along with PETA, India and PurrPaws. Most importantly the objective of the event is to create brand awareness among the public and media associated with the fashion industry of the North East. There are also fashion accessories stalls from budding and established entrepreneur In this event.
NEIFW always target the domestic/international buyers with the right trends and promote Northeast Handloom and Handicrafts. NEIFW also has the impressive lineup of designers and models from Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. It is a landmark event in the sense that the Northeast is now going to be the latest fashion destination for all designers of the neighboring regions.
MALESTORM- the best Model hunt for Males
Northeast India has grown tremendously in the field of fashion in the last fifteen years. Be it beauty pageants or national level fashion weeks, renowned models and designers from Northeast India have gone beyond their limits and have time and again proven their worth at every new step and of course, at every big platform they were a part of. But while we get to see several beauty pageants for women in this region, both single and married, where they get to groom themselves, when it comes to men, the only popular name that comes to one’s mind is MALESTORM.
MALESTORM is the first male pageant of Northeast India, which started way back in 1999, when there was not really enough scope for male models in this part of the country. It was a time when the fashion and modeling world of Northeast was ruled primarily by women. Not that, it isn’t now, but MALESTORM has definitely brought a significant change in the way things are perceived for male models in this region. Malestorm has never compromised when it comes to grooming as it’s believe it’s not just the winner in the Main event but everybody should become winner in whatever they do in life later.
MALESTORM is organized by Kreative People, an event management group, established in the year 1999, by one of the most respected fashion designers and choreographers of Northeast India, Prasantt Ghosh. This group was formed with the objective of contributing vastly to the fashion and cultural scene of Northeast, by holding regular fashion shows, beauty pageants, seminars, producing relevant documentary films and so on and so forth. The pageant which changed countless lives and made leading Models and Actors of this region. Get ready to get launched in the industry, get ready to experience the best grooming sessions with one of the renowned faces of the industry.
MALESTORM was one of the first initiatives of this group and it has indeed proven to be a huge
success in the sense that it has largely achieved what it set out to in the first place. With MALESTORM, for the first time, the aspiring male models got the opportunity to showcase their potential on a big stage. The various training sessions that they go through, as a part of the contest, helps them in grooming themselves, in terms of their looks, body, confidence and personality which is not only beneficial for this particular contest, but if we see the larger picture, it helps them in life as well! The best examples of some male models, who have benefitted enormously from this pageant are Suvam Das –MR model of the world, Thailand 2019, Debojit Bhattacharya, who went to win the RU-BA-RU Mr. India Grand International later represented India in Philippines , 2017 and Sanju Ray, who was the winner of RU-BA-RU Mr. India World Tourism also represented India in Philippines, 2016, Zulfi Saikh won Mr India 2018, who will represent in MR World Tourism .
